Coffee & Wine "Tipsy" Retreat

FoodLifestyleRetreatAesthetic

The Journey

Coffee in one hand, wine in the other. This 4-day "tipsy" retreat takes you from Pu'er's boutique coffee estates —where you'll pick cherries, learn processing, and master pour-over with an SCA-certified barista —to Mile's magical red brick art village and underground wine cellars. Sleep in, sip slowly, and let Yunnan's aroma wash over you.

DAY1

Pu'er —Coffee Estate Arrival

Arrive at Pu'er Simao Airport. Private transfer to a boutique coffee estate nestled in misty hills. Settle in, breathe the mountain air, and enjoy a coffee tasting dinner —pairing local dishes with single-origin Yunnan Arabica. The estate is your home for the night; the forest is your backyard.

DAY2

From Cherry to Cup —Coffee Immersion

Morning: walk through the coffee plantation and pick ripe cherries yourself. Visit the processing mill to see how beans are washed, dried, and sorted. Afternoon: pour-over coffee class taught by an SCA-certified barista —learn extraction ratios, water temperature, and brewing technique. Brew your own signature cup. Late afternoon: drive to Mile, the land of red wine.

DAY3

Art Architecture, Wine & Hot Springs

Morning: explore Dongfengyun —Mile's surreal red brick art village, a masterpiece of organic architecture rising from the earth. Stunning at every angle. Afternoon: visit Yunnan Wine Estate. Descend into the underground cellar for a guided tasting of "Rose Honey" and other Mile varietals —sweet, distinctive, and perfect for Asian palates. Evening: soak in Mile's natural hot springs to wash away all fatigue.

DAY4

Lakeside Sunset & Kunming Farewell

Morning: optional lakeside walk or sleep in —this is a retreat, not a race. Drive back to Kunming. Afternoon: explore a local coffee culture street —artisanal cafes, roasters, and the emerging third-wave scene. Final cup of Yunnan coffee before airport transfer. Depart with aromatic memories.

FAQ

Is Yunnan coffee any good? I thought China only drinks tea.

Yunnan produces 95% of China's coffee — mostly Arabica, high altitude (1,000–1,500m), rich flavor. It's used by Starbucks (Yunnan blend) and Nestlé. But specialty Yunnan coffee is a hidden gem — you'll taste why at the plantation.

What is highland wine? Is it like French wine?

Yunnan wine is unique — high altitude (2,200m+), intense UV, large day-night temperature difference. The result: bold reds with high anthocyanin. Not “like French wine” — it’s its own thing. Chenyue winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon won international awards.

How much wine/coffee tasting is involved? I don't want to get drunk.

All tastings are small pours (30–50ml). You can spit (like professional tasters) or just sip. No pressure to finish. We provide plenty of water and palate cleansers (plain crackers, apple slices).

Can I buy coffee beans and wine to take home?

Yes! We help you select, pack, and ship. Coffee beans (roasted) travel well worldwide. Wine shipping is trickier — we recommend buying at the winery and arranging shipping through them (they have export licenses). We can also help with carry-on (airport security allows sealed bottles in checked luggage).

Is this tour suitable for non-drinkers?

Absolutely. The tour is 50% coffee, 30% culture/food, 20% wine. If you skip the wine tasting, we substitute with more coffee processing deep-dive and a tea ceremony experience. Yunnan has amazing tea too!

“Mile's red wine surprised me. The red brick architecture of the winery is stunning — like a Chinese version of a Tuscan estate. The 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon was genuinely impressive.”
