Elephant Keeper for a Day

DAY4

Rainforest Survival & Dai Pottery

Morning: Jino Mountain rainforest hike —a Bear Grylls-style adventure for kids. Hunt for rare wild plants, challenge tree climbing, and enjoy a "Rainforest Feast" cooked with local jungle ingredients. Afternoon: visit a Dai village and learn slow-wheel pottery from an intangible heritage master. Knead the clay, shape your own Dai vessel, and take home a piece of Yunnan's earth.

DAY5

Royal Gardens & Starlight Farewell

Morning: Manting Park —the former Dai Royal Garden, serene and beautiful. Visit the General Buddhist Temple nearby. The grand finale: dress in exquisite Dai ethnic costumes for a professional family photoshoot at the Starlight Night Market —Asia's largest, with thousands of golden lights reflecting on the Mekong. Afternoon airport transfer.

Is the elephant keeper experience safe for children?

Absolutely. All interactions are supervised by professional keepers. Children are introduced gradually and taught elephant body language before any contact. Asian elephants at Wild Elephant Valley are accustomed to humans.

What should we pack for the rainforest hike?

Light long sleeves, quick-dry pants, sturdy sneakers, and a small backpack. We provideraincoats and leech socks. The hike is moderate — suitable for ages 6+ with adult supervision.

Can the giant water lily really hold a child?

The Victoria amazonica lily pads can support up to 40kg when spread evenly. It's a safe, supervised photo experience at the Botanical Garden — a magial moment for kids.

What if it rains during the rainforest hike?

Xishuangbanna is a tropical rainforest — occasional rain is part of the experience! We provide rain gear and adjust the route. The rainforest is even more beautiful after rain, with mist rising from the canopy.

Are Dai pottery pieces usable? Can we take them home?

Yes! After firing, the pottery is fully functional tableware. We carefully pack your piece and it goes home with you — a tangible memory of Yunnan's intangible heritage.
