The full Lingnan wellness experience — nature, culture, food and deep restoration.
Prefer the 3-Day version? →The 5-day version adds two extraordinary layers to the Lingnan wellness experience: a day inside Hakka mountain culture in Longmen, and an extended exploration of Guangdong's classical gardens and Cantonese culinary heritage. This is the complete Lingnan reset — for those who have the time to do it properly.
Arrive in Guangzhou. Private guided tour of Yuyin Mountain House (余荫山房) — the most intimate of Guangdong's four great classical gardens, featuring a covered walkway that winds through rockeries, fishponds, and pavilions in less than an acre. Transfer to hot spring resort. Welcome soak and Cantonese health dinner.
Drive to Longmen — famous for the purest alkaline soda springs in Guangdong, and for the Hakka villages hidden in the mountain valleys above. Morning: visit a Hakka village and a food workshop (fermented black bean making). Afternoon: soak in Longmen's natural alkaline springs — pH 8.5, sourced from volcanic rock deep underground. Return to resort for dinner.
Chinese medicine constitution assessment in the morning. Personalized tonic meal at lunch. Afternoon outdoor spring soaks with herbal bath add-ons. Evening: private tea ceremony with Guangdong phoenix single-bush oolong (凤凰单枞) — China's most complex oolong, grown on a thousand-year-old tea tree in Chaozhou.
Day trip to Shunde — the culinary capital of Cantonese cuisine. Private guided tour of the morning market (the freshest ingredients in Guangdong). Cooking class with a Shunde chef: learn three techniques that define Cantonese cooking. Lunch: the results of your lesson. Return to resort for evening soaks.
Final sunrise outdoor soak. Farewell congee breakfast. Transfer to Guangzhou with a stop at a Cantonese herb pharmacy — pick up tonic herbs, aged tangerine peel, and chrysanthemum tea to extend your wellness practice at home.
“The 400-year-old village next to the resort still has residents. We spent an afternoon learning traditional rice wine making. The village elder who taught us was 94 years old and sharper than I am.”
“Private hot spring villa in Heyuan — each villa has its own thermal pool. Our kids treated it like a private water park while we enjoyed tea on the terrace overlooking bamboo forests. The Hakka tea wine tasting was a delightful surprise.”
“Wuzhen at night with lanterns reflecting on the canals — pure poetry. The Longjing tea picking was surprisingly meditative. I never understood tea culture until I picked leaves myself at sunrise.”
“West Lake lived up to every legend. We took a private boat at 7am before the crowds, and the mist over the water was exactly like a Chinese ink painting. My French friends couldn't stop taking photos.”
The full Lingnan wellness journey — nature, culture, food, and deep restoration. Worth every day.
