Arrive at Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport, transfer to downtown (70 km, 1.5 hrs). Check in to Hampton by Hilton or similar. Afternoon: Yellow River Mother Statue → Zhongshan Bridge (First Bridge over the Yellow River) → Baitashan Park for panoramic river views. Dinner at Zhengning Road Night Market — Lanzhou beef noodles, lamb skewers, sweet fermented barley.
Drive to Ta'er Monastery (250 km, 3.5 hrs) — one of the six great Gelugpa monasteries. Famous for butter sculptures, pile embroidery, murals, and sandalwood carvings. English guided tour available. Pre-dawn: Heimahe sunrise over Qinghai Lake (depart 5:30). Morning: drive to Chaka Salt Lake (150 km, 2 hrs) — China's "Mirror of the Sky." Ride the small train into the heart of the salt flats for surreal reflections. Afternoon: return to Xining (300 km, 4 hrs). Overnight in Xining.
