Zhangjiajie Avatar Family Camp

The Journey

James Cameron came to Zhangjiajie and saw Pandora. Your family will come and feel it. The 3,000 sandstone pillars — many draped with hanging gardens, some disappearing into cloud — are the most breathtaking natural landscape in China. And unlike Avatar, this is real.

DAY1

Arrival — Into the Forest

Your private guide meets you at Zhangjiajie Airport. Transfer to your forest-edge hotel. An evening walk through the Suoxiyu Valley for the first taste of scale — the pillars illuminated at dusk. Welcome dinner with local Tujia specialties: steamed fish, preserved meat, and rice wine.

DAY2

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park — The Floating Mountains

Full day inside China's first national forest park. Ride the Bailong Elevator — the world's tallest outdoor elevator — to the ridge top. Walk the Hallelujah Avenue trail through the Qian'li Gallery as clouds drift between the pillars. Optional: the Tianmen Glass Bridge for the brave. Picnic lunch overlooking the canyon.

DAY3

Tianmen Mountain — The Heaven's Gate

Cable car ascent to Tianmen Mountain (1,518m). Walk the Cliff-Hanging Walkway — a glass-bottomed path bolted to sheer rock face. Visit Tianmen Cave, the natural arch you see in every postcard. Afternoon: visit a Tujia minority family home for a brocade weaving demonstration and afternoon tea.

DAY4

Departure — Carry the Mountain Home

Morning at leisure — optional sunrise hike or souvenir shopping in the local market. Your guide transfers you to the airport. You leave carrying something that no suitcase can hold.

FAQ

Common Questions About This Tour

What age group is this tour suitable for?
This tour is designed for families with children aged 6 and above. The Bailong Elevator, glass walkways, and forest trails are all manageable for older children. We can adapt the pace for younger kids on request.
Is the Glass Bridge safe for children?
Yes — the glass bridge has strict safety standards and is inspected daily. Children must be accompanied by adults. We provide shoe covers at the entrance.
What's the best season to visit Zhangjiajie?
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer the clearest views. Summer brings dramatic cloud seas but also humidity. Winter is quieter with snow on the peaks.
Can we arrange a birthday celebration mid-tour?
Absolutely. We can organize a local-style cake, Tujia folk performance, or special dinner with advance notice. Just let us know when booking.
What if the weather is bad on the glass bridge day?
Glass bridge access is weather-dependent. We always keep a backup activity (indoor Tujia cultural experience or market visit) and will reschedule if conditions allow.
